Fuzzy Design-Science Research

Prof. Edy Portmann and Dr. Luis Téran recently published a flipbook on fuzzy design science research, together with the board members of the FMsquare initiative, Dr. Gwen Wilke, and Dr. Sara D’Onofrio – a former PhD student of the Human-IST Institute. In their booklet, the authors present the inter- and transdisciplinary research processes of design-science oriented fuzzy research. To develop innovative artifacts, this research approach is used in the soft and cognitive computing group, not only for research, but also for teaching. The resulting fuzzy artifacts can be models, frameworks, or prototypes that the group develops as demo-driven innovation with and for our industrial partners. In other words, fuzzy design-science research is a very practical research method for designing smart technology.
