Two research projects associated with this new center have already secured funding and will start in 2015 together with the new Institute.

First, within the smart living lab project, co-funded by the Canton of Fribourg and EPFL, which aims at developing the buildings of the future, Human-IST will have a team of researchers working on human-building interaction.

Second, within the Swiss Integrative Center for Human Health (SICHH), another project initiated by the University at Fribourg’s BlueFactory Innovation Quarter, two experts associated with Human-IST will run an Interaction Lab with sensors to acquire human interactions and interaction technologies (e.g. CAVE, human body and eye trackers).

Other challenging research projects, on the topics of telepresence and information visualization, are currently under discussions with external partners.
