AI Safety panel at the Applied Machine Learning Days 2024
The recently concluded Applied Machine Learning Days 2024 (AMLD2024) brought together experts and enthusiasts from the public and the private sector as well as academia to dive into the pressing issues surrounding AI.
At the AMLD2024, the EPFL Center for Digital Trust (C4DT) organized a track called “AI Safety: the Quest to Making AI Human-Centric, Trustworthy and Safe”, which included a panel with Eva Thélisson, co-founder and executive director of AI Transparency Institute, Florian Tramèr, assistant professor of computer science at ETHZ, Michelle Chang, global head of search and AI policy at Google, and Anna Jobin, senior researcher and lecturer at the Human-IST institute.
The panel participants discussed generative AI, issues of detection, the use of labels, the pace of regulation, and much more. Anna Jobin notably advocated for the necessity of collaboration and interdisciplinary engagement.
