Resilient Systems (RISE)
Resilient systems can advance despite adversity. We humans can advance because we are able of fuzzy thinking. Coming from a multitude of disciplines, the group of Prof. Dr. Edy Portmann is comprised of highly qualified and super motivated fuzzy researchers. Within the group, the doctoral students work on their projects during a 3- to 4-year period, whilst either working at Human-IST or in their professional environment. They carry out inter- and transdisciplinary research at our partners site but meet regularly to interact for the benefit of their resilient projects. The sociotechnological projects build on computing with words and perceptions, which employs fuzzy-based methods that do not restrict to fixed disciplines, but draw integrally from design, science, and engineering.
