Algorithmic Governance in Social Enterprises

"Algorithmic Governance in Social Enterprises" is a fellowship project by sociologist Dr. Halyna Kravchenkova, hosted at SAIS. It examines how social impact and humanitarian organisations use and govern AI tools in practice, especially in work with vulnterable populations. The project focus on how principles of "responsible AI" and ethical guidelines are interpreted, adapted, or restisted under constraints such as limited staff, funding, and infrastructure, using qualitative interviews to explore the gap between high-level AI ethics frameworks and everyday governance in the social sector.
