Human Side of AI

The empirical project "The Human Side of AI: Navigating Expertise in the Era of Large Language Models" explores how claims to expertise about generative AI emerge, circulate and are contested in the workplace. Rather than treating prompting as an individual technical skill, the project looks at how "algorithmic expertise" is shaped by organisational roles, access to tools, internal policies and informal practices around generative AI technologies like Copilot and ChatGPT. Through qualitative case studies and interviews, the projects investigats how LLMs become part of socio-technical arrangements at work.

The project runs from 2025-2026 and is funded by the Human-IST & Swiss Post Initiative (HIP-I).
