The research project combines expertise from various sociological, artistic and scientific approaches to explore AI as a social, political and cultural phenomenon. At SAIS, the Fribourg project team is responsible for the PAI work packages on ethics and governance in AI policy, using mixed methods such as discourse analysis and policy mapping. Alongside the University of Fribourg, the University of Lausanne (UniL), the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and the University of Tokyo (UoT) are leading participants in the project.
PAI runs from 2025-2029 and is funded by a 3.6 million CHF project grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation.
