Soft and Cognitive Computing

The Group of Prof. Dr Edy Portmann is financed, in part, by Swiss Post. Coming from a multitude of disciplines and backgrounds, the team is comprised of highly qualified and super motivated researchers and scientists. Within the team, the doctoral students write their thesis during a 3- to 4-year period whilst either working at Human-IST or in their professional environment. Thereby, the researchers and scientists carry out transdisciplinary research at our partners site, but meet regularly to interact for the benefit of their projects. In doing so, the group mainly follows the incompatibility principle, which reveals the necessity for fuzziness when explaining and understanding our social reality in which we exist. So, in this ecosystem, next to Swiss Post, our key partner for fuzzy-based research projects is the FMsquare Foundation.
