Jean-Pierre Bresciani

Short Biography

Jean-Pierre Bresciani completed his PhD at the graduate school of Life and Health Science of the University of the Mediterranean. He then spent eight years as a research scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics before taking up a senior lecturer position at the Department of Psychology of the Grenoble-Alpes University. Since 2012, he has been professor at the Department of Medicine at the University of Fribourg. He is interested in how humans perceive motion and develop efficient and adaptive motor strategies. His research combines virtual reality technology, motion capture, human-avatar interaction and statistical methods to analyze human movement and create applications to improve human health, performance and learning.

This course will discuss the role that our physiology plays in interaction, explaining how and why vision, hearing, touch and other physiological factors such as physical size, fatigue etc, play the role they do in our daily lives and interactions.
